MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's tennis team secured their third straight win on Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Virginia Union University.  The Hawks advance to 19-5 on the season and remain undefeated in league play with an 11-0 record against CIAA opponents.  The Lady Panthers slip to 4-12 overall and 2-9 in CIAA action with the setback. 

In doubles play, Anna Makhneva/Roxana Daneshjoo blanked Lynda Kaneza/Destiny Chapman 8-0 in the number three position.  Cynthia Carrier/Angelique Goiun teamed up for an 8-0 win over Amirah Eckles/Zsakee Crocker in number two doubles while Polina Novachuk/Victoria Smolchenkova downed Sabrina Conner/Logan Reid 8-1 in number one doubles play. 

In singles competition, Novachuck topped Sabrina 6-1, 6-1 in the number one spot.  Smolchenkova, Carrier, Gouin, Jessica De Backre, and Makhva picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories over their opponents to secure the 9-0 win.

Chowan returns to action on Saturday as the Hawks travel to compete against Bowie State University for two CIAA Northern Division matches.  First serve is slated for 12pm.
