RICHMOND, VA- The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the CIAA Championship on Thursday afternoon. The 5K race was held at Joseph Bryan Park in Richmond, Virginia. The Hawks posted an 11
th place finish in the 12-team field.
Ashley Tackett paced the Hawks on Thursday. Competing in her final meet for the Chowan Blue and White, Tackett crossed the finish line at the 20:34.95 mark. Her career best time secured a 16
th place individual finish in the 74-runner field.
Anna Makhneva finished in 53
rd place with a season-best time of 24:06.70.
Chasity Henderson followed in 62
nd place and also recorded a season-best finish. She trekked the course in 25:11.31.
Natalia Andrade and
Kaila Hardin rounded out the scoring for Chowan. Andrade finished in 69
th place with a time of 27:42.10 while Hardin completed the course in 30:17.39.
Rebeccah Noll also competed for the Hawks in Thursday's CIAA Championship. She crossed the finish line in 74
th place with a time of 31:39.63.
Winston-Salem State University repeated as CIAA Champion on the women's side. All five of the Rams' runners finished in the top 10 individually. Domtila Kiplagat posted the winning time after crossing the finish line at the 18:35.35 mark.
