Box Score WILSON, NC- The Chowan University men's soccer team picked up a 3-0 win over Barton College on Thursday evening. The Hawks improve to 7-5-1 on the season with the victory while the Bulldogs slide to 3-10-1 on the year with the setback.
Chowan recorded 21 shots over the course of the contest.
Lee Wattam led the effort with 10 shots while
Denis Roule added three for the Hawks.
Ben Chapman and
Josh Baker both notched two shots on the evening.
Carlos Ramirez totaled three saves in the shutout win.
The Hawks held Barton to six shots in the contest. Rodrigo Neves paced the Bulldogs with three shots. Jens Madsen Hordvik and Jacob Baird combined for fives saves in-goal in the setback.
Wattam put the Hawks on the board in the 28
th minute using Baker's assist. Holding a 1-0 lead after the halftime break, Wattam found the back of the net again in the 58
th minute behind
Mike Dowling's cross. Three minutes later, Roule dribbled around Barton's last defender, and scored into an open net to push Chowan ahead 3-0.
Paul Migliarina was credited with the assist on the play.
Chowan returns to Hawks Field on Saturday. The Hawks take on Davis & Elkins in their final home game of the season. Game time is slated for 3pm.
