Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC- The University of Mount Olive handed the Chowan University men's soccer team a 3-0 loss on Monday evening. The Hawks fall to 6-5-1 on the year with the setback while the Trojans improve to 3-8-1 after capturing their third straight win.
Mount Olive notched 18 shots over the course of the competition with Trevor Knight and Lewis Xiberras recording four shots apiece for the Trojans. Dakotah Casale, Grany Conybear, and Travis Jones each notched two shots for Mount Olive in the victory.
Nick Bernsdorf recorded five saves in goal for Mount Olive.
The Hawks totaled eight shots over the course of the evening.
Mike Dowling and
Lee Wattam led the effort for the Hawks with two shots apiece.
Carlos Ramirez made five saves in-goal for Chowan.
The Trojans got on the board in the 18
th minute of play. Xiberras found the back of the net off of a free kick to give the Trojans a 1-0 edge. Less than one minute later, Casale scored a goal near post using Trevor Knight's assist, leaving the Hawks trailing 2-0.
Chowan held Mount Olive at-bay until the 88
th minute of play when Jones scored near post on a header to propel the Trojans to the 3-0 win.
The Hawks look to recover on October 20
th as Chowan travels to compete against Barton College. Game time is slated for 7pm.
