NEWPORT NEWS, VA- The Chowan University women's cross country team capped off the regular season on Saturday afternoon at the Christopher Newport Invitational. The Hawks finished in fourth place out of five competing teams in the non-NCAA Division I portion of the meet with a team score of 119. Christopher Newport University captured first place honors after recording a perfect score of 15. Bridgewater followed in second place with a team score of 49 followed by Mary Baldwin in third place. Elizabeth City State University rounded out the field in fifth place with a team score of 125.
Ashley Tackett paced the Hawks on Saturday. She finished in 23
rd place individually after trekking the 6k course in 27:37.
Anna Makhneva posted a time of 33:51 and in 33
rd place in the 41-runner field.
Chasity Henderson and
Kaila Hardin followed in 36
th and 37
th, respectively. Henderson crossed the finished at the 36:23 mark with Harden crossing the line at 38:25.
Natalia Andrade rounded out the scoring in 39
th place with a time of 39:29.
Rebeccah Noll also competed in the meet for Chowan. She posted a time of 40:53 and finished in 41
st place.
The Hawks head to Richmond, Virginia on October 27
th to compete in the CIAA Championship.
