CARY, NC- The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the HBCU Challenge as part of the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday morning. The Hawks finished in 17
th place in the 17-team field with a team score of 411. Hampton University took home first place team honors with a score of 37. Darroneisha Lott of Coker College finished in first place in the 113 runner field with a winning time of 18:37.
Ashley Tackett led the effort for the Hawks. She finished in 40
th place individually with a time of 22:49.
Anna Makhneva followed with a time of 26:09, finishing 82
nd in the field.
Chasity Henderson and
Kaila Hardin followed in 95
th and 96
th place, respectively. Henderson posted a time of 29:42 with Hardin following just six seconds behind with a time of 29:48.
Natalia Andrade rounded out the scoring for Chowan, trekking the 5k course in 30:14 and in 98
th place.
Rebeccah Noll also competed in the HBCU Challenge. She crossed the finish line at the 34:07 mark in 104
th.

th as Chowan travels to compete in the Blue Bear Invitational hosted by Livingstone College.
