Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team defeated the University of Mount Olive 4-0 on Thursday evening. The Hawks start the season with a 1-0 record while the Trojans embark on the 2015 campaign 0-1.
Terell Williamson put the Hawks on the board midway through the first period. He used
Octavio Espino's feed from the top of the box to give Chowan an early advantage in the 25
th minute of play.
Christian Funes' corner kick set up
Jordan Radisavljevic for a score in the 39
th minute to push the Hawks ahead 2-0. Chowan held on to the advantage through the remainder of the first period and extended their lead early in the second half when Funes connected with Williams on a corner kick to leave the Trojans trailing 3-0.
Tre Bonaparte found the back of the net for the Hawks in the 88
th minute of the contest to give the Hawks all they would need to secure the victory.
Chowan out-shot Mount Olive 22-10 over the course of the contest. Williamson tallied three shots on goal for the Chowan Blue and White whille
Jason Bradbury, Bonaparte and Radisavljevic each added two for the Hawks.
Marco Lujan made six saves in goal for the Chowan while Liam Fautley made six saves for Mount Olive. The Trojans were held to six shots on goal in the contest.
Chowan returns to action on Saturday, September 5
th as the Hawks host Goldey-Beacom. Game time is slated for 3:00pm.
