RICHMOND, VA  - The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the Virginia Union University Invitational at Virginia Union on Friday evening.  The Hawks finished in second out of the four teams that competed in the 5k race with a total of 24 runners. The Hawks finished with a team score of 57.

Jomecka Deloatch finished in first place for the Hawks and second overall crossing the finish line in 21:14.6. Just seconds behind Deloatch, Ashley Tackett completed the race at the 21:58.0 mark placing third overall.  Natalia Andrade finished the 5k race with a time of 25:33.9, while Chasity Henderson crossed the finish line in 28:09.7. Rounding out the scoring for the Blue and White, Kaila Harden finished with a time of 32:58.1.

The host team, Virginia Union, finished in first place out of the four team entries with 35 points.  Daniaria Briceled the Panthers with a time of 21:12.2 and finished in first place overall.

Chowan next competes on September 26^th when they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to participate in the Greensboro College Invitational.
