MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University women's tennis team remains undefeated in the CIAA after earning their twelfth straight CIAA win Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Virginia Union University. The Hawks improve to 16-6 on the season and 12-0 against CIAA opponents while Virginia Union slips to 0-12 overall and 0-10 in the CIAA.
At the number one doubles position,
Natalya Kamenshchikova and
Victoria Smolchenkova earned a win by forfeit. Â
Polina Novachuk and
Jessica De Backre blanked Lynda Kaneza and Christionne Taylor 8-0 in the number two position. In the number three position,
Jennifer Humphrey and
Natalia Andrade picked up a win by forfeit.
The Hawks swept the Lady Panthers through the singles matches as Kamenshchikova earned a victory over Ellie Parsons in the number one position after a retirement by Parsons.  Kamenshchikova led 6-1, 2-1. In the number two position, Smolchenkova picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Logan Reid while De Backre, Andrade and Humphrey each blanked their opponent in the number three, four and five positions, respectively. The final win for the Hawks came at the number six position with
Straffai Cleveland winning by forfeit.
Chowan returns to action on April 11
th when they travel to Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland to play their final conference match of the season. First serve is slated for 11:00 a.m..
