RICHMOND, VA- The Chowan University women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 win over Virginia Union University in CIAA play. The Hawks improve to 7-4 on the season and 4-0 against conference opponents with the victory.
Chowan swept Virginia Union in doubles and singles play to earn the win.
Natalya Kamenshchikova and Polina Smolchinkova teamed up for a victory over Ellie Parsons and Logan Reid at the number one doubles position.
Polina Novachuk and
Jessica De Backre blanked Lynda Kaneza and Christionne Taylor 8-0 in the number two position. Thyisha Hicks and Tiyanna Johnson were defeated 8-0 by Chowan duo
Straffai Cleveland and
Natalia Andrade in the third position.
The Hawks made quick work of the Lady Panthers in singles play as Kamenshchikova, Novachuk, Smolchenkova, De Backre, Andrade and Cleveland, earned victories in each position to secure the 9-0 victory.
Chowan returns to action against CIAA Northern Division opponent Virginia State University on March 19
th. First serve is slated for 3:00pm in Petersburg, Virginia.
