Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Barton College on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 7-6-3 on the year with the victory while the Bulldogs drop to 2-12-1 on the season after the setback. Chowan celebrated Senior Day on Wednesday and recognized
Paul Kamara prior to the start of the contest.
After a scoreless first period,
Terell Williamson ended the scoring drought for the Hawks when he beat Barton's last defender and found the back of the net within the first minute after halftime.
Tre Bonaparte was credited with the assist on the play.
Holding a 1-0 lead,
Jordan Young sent the ball far post from the sideline to push the Hawks ahead 2-0. Barton outshot Chowan 13-9 in the second period, but
Marco Lujan made four saves in goal to earn the shutout win.
Tolly Beatson, Rodrigo Neves and Austin Tausch each tallied three shots for Barton. Dion Gauthier added two shots in the setback while Justin Delaney and Marcus Strath each notched one shot for the Bulldogs. Danny Garcia made one save in goal for Barton.
The Hawks had 13 shots over the course of the contest led by
Dylan Helm with five. Williamson recorded three shots in the victory while
Tre Bonaparte,
Ben Chapman,
Octavio Espino,
Francisco Ferrus, and Young each added one shot apiece.
Chowan is slated to conclude the regular season on the road. The Hawks travel to West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday before competing against Columbia International on November 7
th.
