Box Score CHARLESTON, WV- The Chowan University men's soccer team suffered a 7-1 setback to #5 University of Charleston (WV) on Sunday afternoon.  The Hawks slip to 6-5-2 on the season with the loss while the Golden Eagles advance to 12-1 on the season after Sunday's win.  

Chowan got on the board first in the contest after Terell Williamson found the back of the net in the 17^th minute of play.  The Golden Eagles responded just under one minute later when Felipe Antonio used an assist from Augusto Maciel to knot the score 1-1. 

In the 24^th minute of play Will Roberts used a through ball from Michael Hagarty to push Charleston ahead 2-1.  Conor Branson gave the Golden Eagles a 3-1 lead after finding the back of the net from six yards out using Renan Ramos' assist.  Lewis Osborne's cross found Roberts just nine seconds before halftime to leave the Hawks trailing 4-1 at the end of the first period. 

A Hawk foul in the 59^th minute of play led to a penalty kick for Charleston.  Roberts made good on the opportunity and scored to extend the Golden Eagles' lead to 5-1.  Four minutes later, Roberts scored his fourth goal of the game using an assist from Ramos which left Chowan trailing 6-1.  Charleston scored once more before the end of the contest to secure the 7-1 victory when Maiel scored for Charleston in the 76^th minute on a penalty kick. 

The Golden Eagles tallied 23 shots over the course of the contest with 11 on frame. Chowan totaled three shots over the course of the competition led by Williamson with two shots (both on frame).  Christian Funes added one shot for the Hawks in the setback.  Marco Lujan made four saves on goal in the setback.

The Hawks return to action on October 20^th as they travel to compete against Belmont Abbey College.  Match time is slated for 3:00pm.
