SALISBURY, NC- The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the Catawba College Invitational on Friday evening. The Hawks finished in seventh place out of eight teams competing in the meet.
The Mars Hill Lions took home first place honors with a team score of 29. Jessica Viscusi won individual champion honors after completing the 5k course in 19:47. Meredith finished in second place with a team score of 78, edging Brevard, who finished in third place with 81 points.
Winston-Salem State earned a team score of 130 (fourth place) while Salem (185 points) and Tusculum (206 points) took fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The Hawks combined for a team score of 231.
Ashley Tackett crossed the finish line first for the Hawks. She finished in 24:05 and in 35
th place overall.
Gerlisa Shipman finished next for the Blue and White, with a time of 24:52, and in 40
th place.
Jomecka Deloatch, with a time of 25:03 earned a score of 41 while
Crystal Louramore crossed the line at the 25:53 mark (50
th place).
Shanequa Blow rounded out the scoring for the Hawks. She trekked the course in 28:20, finishing in 65
th place.
Taylor McElroy also competed in the meet. She finished in 70
th place with a time of 31:03.
Warren Wilson finished in eighth place with a team score of 239. The complete list of team scores is included below:
