PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University women's cross country team competed in the Virginia State University Trojan Invitational on Friday evening. The Hawks finished in third place out of the three teams that competed in the meet. Chowan earned a team score of 62.
Virginia State and Virginia Union finished with identical team scores of 37. The Lady Trojans edged the Lady Panthers using displacement results, resulting in a first place finish for Virginia State. Washington Adventist competed in the meet as well, but did not earn a team score.
Jomecka Deloatch crossed the finish line in 23:12 and in fifth place in the 24-runner field.
Gerlisa Shipman ran the 5k course in 23:45, good for an eighth place overall finish.
Ashley Tackett completed the race in 24:36, followed by
Shanequa Blow, who finished at the 28:46 mark. Tackett finished in 11
th place overall while Blow placed 18
th.
Taylor McElroy rounded out the scoring for the Blue and White. She finished in 21
st place overall and with a time of 30:36.
The Hawks return to action on October 4
th when they compete in the HBCU Challenge in Cary, North Carolina.
