Christian Funes scored a goal for the Hawks on Tuesday.
Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team saw their three game win-streak come to an end on Tuesday afternoon after suffering a 3-2 loss to the visiting Crusaders of Belmont Abbey.  The Hawks slip to 3-2 on the season with the setback while the Crusaders improve to 1-1-2 after earning their first victory.

Chowan jumped out to a 2- 0 lead in the first half, but surrendered three goals in the second half to Belmont Abbey.

Christian Funes put the Hawks on the board with a goal less than five minutes into the contest using Barkan Koeprueluegil's cross. Jordan Radisavljevic used Francisco Ferrus' corner kick to find the back of the net in the 16th minute of play, putting Chowan ahead 2-0.

Nick Fuller's cross allowed Ryan Falcheck to send the ball into the near post for Belmont Abbey in the 75th minute of play.  Fuller found the back of the net four minutes later when he drew the keeper out of the box to score into an open net.  Clay Dimick was credited with the assist.

With the score tied 2-2, Dimick's goal off a breakaway at the 87th minute secured the 3-2 victory for the Crusaders.

The Hawks had 15 shots in the contest in comparison to 27 by the Crusaders.  Marco Lujan made six saves in goal for the Blue and White while Alex Trukillo made five saves for Belmont Abbey.

The Hawks return to action on September 20th when they host Concord University at 3:00pm on Hawks Field.
