MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's tennis team clinched the CIAA Northern Division title on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Virginia Union University. The Hawks improve to 20-7 with the win and remain perfect in league play with a 13-0 record. The Lady Panthers slide to 2-10 overall and 2-7 in CIAA play after the loss.
Chowan swept Virginia Union in doubles and singles play to earn the win. In doubles play,

Holly Stambaugh blanked Kara Miller/Ellie Parsons 8-0 while
Breanne Johnson/
Natalia Andrade picked up an 8-1 win over Katrina Joe/Deja Shabazz in the number two spot.
Straffai Cleveland/
Jennifer Humphrey earned a doubles win by forfeit.
Kamenshchikova earned a 6-2, 6-0 win in the number one singles position while Johnson topped Parsons 6-1, 6-2 in the number two spot. Stambaugh and Cleveland both blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in the third and fifth positions respectively while Andrade topped Shabazz 6-4, 6-0. Humphrey earned a singles win by forfeit to help secure the 9-0 win.
Chowan returns to action on April 15
th when they host Virginia Wesleyan in nonconference competition. The Hawks will recognize senior
Holly Stambaugh prior to the match. First serve is slated for 3:00pm.
