CARY, NC- The Chowan University women's cross country season came to an end on Thursday afternoon at the CIAA Championship. The Hawks finished in 7
th place out of 12 teams. They earned a team score of 175.
The Lincoln University took home first place honors with a team score of 59 and edged Winston-Salem State University by one point to earn the win. Three of their five scoring runners finished in the top ten. Taylor-Ashley Bean of Virginia State University finished in first place of the 70 runner field with a time of 19:27:57.
Jomecka Deloatch paced the Hawks with a season-best time of 21:25:31. She earned a 19
th place finish for the Blue and White.
Crystal Louramore trekked the course in 22:10:83 and finished in 27
th place.
Ashley Tackett and
Gerlisa Shipman finished in 38
th and 39
th respectively. Tackett crossed the line at the 23:45:84 mark while Shipman completed the course in 23:48:28.
Shanequa Blow rounded out the scoring for the Hawks. She finished in 52
nd place with a time of 26:29:48.
Taylor McElroy competed for the Blue and White as well. She ran the course in 27:56:19 and in 61
st place overall.
