Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's soccer team fell short in a 3-0 decision against Barton College on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-12 on the season while the Lady Bulldogs improve to 8-3-2 with the victory.

The Lady Bulldogs kept the Hawks from taking a shot in the first half. Chowan's defense with the help of Marissa Ghani's five saves held Barton scoreless in the half.

After a silent first half, Barton came alive to score three goals to earn the victory. In the 63^rd minute, Lane Brooks' cross allowed Kathryn Smith to send the ball into the near post. Five minutes later, Ashley Batchelor used Rachel Krueger's assist to send the ball out of Ghani's reach and into the back of the net.

Emily Futral used Nikki Heltons' cross from the top of the box to add a third goal for Barton in the 77th minute. The Lady Bulldogs tallied 47 shots on the afternoon while holding Chowan to one over the course of the game. Felice Hewtt recorded the lone shot for the Hawks in the loss.

Ghani made 14 saves for the Blue and White. Carson Moore earned the shutout in goal for Barton.

The Hawks travel to Barton on October 22^nd before returning home to host Columbia College on October 25^th.
