Vincent Reaches Century Mark with Win over Concord

Phoenix Butler-Poole and Ashante Ross each had 19 points in Friday's win.
Box Score BLUEFIELD, WV- The Chowan University men's basketball team earned their first win of the season in a 76-74 win over Concord University as part of the Bluefield State College Classic on Friday evening.  The win moves the Hawks to 1-2 on the season and gave head coach Brett Vincent his 100th career win.  The Mountain Lions slip to 3-3 after the loss. 
 
Ashante Ross and Phoenix Butler-Poole both tallied 19 points in the victory.  Greg Alston chipped in 10 points in the contest while Ross hauled in a team-high six rebounds (one offensive, five defensive).  Mike Boyd led all players in the contest as he scored 20 points for the Mountain Lions in the loss. 
 
Chowan trailed Concord 38-33 at halftime, but battled to outscore the Mountain Lions 43-36 to earn the 76-74 win.  The Hawks shot 52% from the floor and 50% from behind the three point line.  Butler-Poole was 3-4 in three point attempts.  Please note that complete statistics were not available at the time of this release.  Complete results and play-by-play will be posted as they become available. 
 
Chowan will take the court again on Saturday evening.  The Hawks take on Bluefield State in day two of the Bluefield State Classic.  Tip-off is slated for 6:00pm.
