RICHMOND, VA  -  The Chowan University women's cross country team ran their way to a third place finish at the Virginia Union University Cross Country Invite in a four-team field. CU's Gerlisa Shipman paced the Hawks after completing the 5K course in 20:42, good enough for a 12th place finish in the field. Lacey Wildeboer wasn't too far behind, finishing in 15th place at 21:02. 

Stephany Powell finished in 18th place after completing the course with a time of 21:35 while Shaneka Sawyer finished 25 with a time of 26:47. Angelica Satchell rounded out the CU field with a time of 26:51 and in 26th place. 

The Hawks will compete again next Saturday when they travel to the HBCU Classic in Cary, North Carolina.
