Alaina Beasley scored her fourth goal of the season, while
Samira Wilson notched her first, but it was not enough as the visiting Mount Olive College Trojans defeated the Hawks, 7-2. Chowan falls to 1-9 on the year and Mount Olive improves to 9-3-1.
Mount Olive controlled the first period, scoring twice in the first ten minutes of play. They added a third goal in the 21
st minute to take a 3-0 lead less than halfway into the period.
The Trojans continued to pour on the offense in the second period. Lindsey Stanley netted her second and third goals of the game en route to MOC taking a 7-0 lead.
Wilson broke the shutout in the 78
th minute when she scored a goal off a corner kick. Just over ten minutes later, Beasley converted on a breakaway.
Shauna Anderson recorded 19 saves for Chowan.
Erica Jefferson and
Canesha Bradford added one shot apiece.
Chowan will travel to West Palm Beach, Florida to take on Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday, October 22
