MURFREESBORO – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball teams will host Saint Paul's College tonight in CIAA North action. The Women's tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm, with the men to follow at 7:30pm in the Helms Center.
The Chowan Women look to remain unbeaten in CIAA North play, as they currently sit alone in first place with a 4-0 divisional record. Overall, the Hawks are 9-9, with a 6-4 CIAA record. Chowan is coming off an impressive 68-57 win on Saturday night against Virginia Union University. Recently named CIAA Player of the Week
Ransheda Jennings scored 17 points in the victory. Teammates
Talaya Lynch and
Najah Harris chipped in 16 and 10, respectively. Lynch was dialed in from three point land, as she shot 3-6 from behind the arc.
The Hawks have won four games in a row, and 5 of 6 overall. Saint Paul's enters tonight's game at 2-14 overall (1-9 CIAA, 1-2 North). The Lady Tigers are coming off a 62-45 loss at the hands of Bowie State University. They are led by Deaudra Brown, who is averaging 12.2 points per contest.
On the Men's side, the Hawks seek their first CIAA victory of the season. They enter tonight's game at 1-17 overall (0-10 CIAA, 0-4 North). In their last game, Chowan fell 96-44 to visiting Virginia Union University.
Deandre Tyree tallied 13 points to lead the team. Three of the team's last six losses have been decided by single digits. Saint Paul's currently holds a 6-10 overall record (3-6 CIAA, 2-1 North). They come off an 88-81 loss to Bowie State University on Saturday night. Maurice Reevey leads the Tigers in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game.
