Box Scores vs. Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, NC - The softball team dropped a doubleheader at Mount Olive College this afternoon, moving them to 23-17 on the year. The Hawks dropped the first game 4-0 and the second game 7-1.

Chowan tallied nine hits in the first game but left eight runners on base as they were shut out 4-0. Shellie Wimpey suffered the loss on the mound, moving her to 12-8 on the year. Wimpey gave up nine hits and four earned runs in the loss. Brooke Owen and Melissa Woodrum both had multiple hit games after going 2-4 and 2-3 at the plate respectively.

Chowan's defense suffered five errors in the nightcap loss which they couldn't overcome offensively. The only run of the game came in the top of the 6th inning when Allie Kolezynski doubled to score Alex Allen. Allen reached base on an infield single earlier in the inning. Kolezynksi suffered her 9th loss on the mound after throwing the game. She gave up nine hits in the loss.

The Hawks will travel to Virginia State University tomorrow for a doubleheader set to start at 2:00pm.
