Box Score 2 Box Scores vs. St. Pauls
MURFREESBORO - The Hawks had a record setting day as they rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Saint Pauls College this afternoon. Chowan won with game scores of 27-1 and 22-1, improving to 20-11 on the year. Chowan has won their last 11 out of 12 outings. Mike Taylor (at left) collected 12 RBI over the two games with three homeruns, including a grandslam in the nightcap win.
Chowan pounded out 16 hits through five innings in the first game, winning with a final game score of 27-1. Justin Bagbey, then nation's #2 leading hitter, tallied seven RBI in the game after going 2-4 with a grandslam. The homerun was Bagbey's 12th of the season. Zac Caito finished up the 27-1 win with six RBI after going 2-4 at the plate and John Kellett was perfect on the day at 3-3 with five RBI. Taylor was 3-4 with five RBI and a homerun in the first game win.
Taylor's seven RBI and two homeruns highlighted the game two win. He ended the game going 2-3 with a grandslam and a three-run homerun. Caito stayed hot in game two, putting up three hits and two RBI with four runs scored.
Bryan Hill pitched the first game win, his 5th win of the season. The senior tossed the complete game and struck out six Tiger batters. Steve Humphrey picked up his first win of the season in the nightcap. He gave up one run on four hits while striking out two batters. Spencer Fagan came in to throw the final inning of game two where he notched two strikeouts in three batters faced.
The Hawks improve to 20-11 on the year after today's wins. They travel to UNC-Pembroke on Tuesday and Wednesday for a two-game series with the Braves. They will return to Hawkins Field on April 14th to host the Apprentice School in a 3:00pm nine-inning game.
