RICHMOND, VA- The women's tennis team shuts out Virginia Union by the final match score of 9-0. Chowan received two points by default in the match. The win improved the Hawks to 3-7 on the season.

After taking a 3-0 lead going into singles play, Chowan never looked back. Junior Kashae Beverly anchored the #1 seed to defeat Ashley Snead by the final score of 6-3, 6-2. Amanda Spaulding represented the #2 for the Hawks by winning in straight sets over Shacoya Patrick, 6-2, 6-3. Tara Lunney, Melinda Williams, and Jennifer Mitchell were the #3, #4, and #5 seeds, respectively. Lunney, Williams, and Mitchell all won by the same match scores, 6-0, 6-0. Brittney Johnson picked up a win by default.

The Hawks finish their 2009 campaign at home against Shaw University on April 9th. Match is 2:00pm.
