MURFREESBORO- The women's team picked up their first season win after defeating the Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan College with a final score of 5-4. The first win of the season moves them to 1-4 on the season.
The Hawks won two of their doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead going into today's singles play. Amanda Spaulding and Tara Lunney defeated Joanne Youngblood and Meghan Herd handedly at 8-0. Melinda Williams and Jena'y Nelson picked up the win over Tija Riley and Juliana Richardson, 8-4.
Chowan won three of their six singles matches to take the win. Lunney defeated Herd in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 while Williams anchored the #4 seed and defeated Youngblood, 6-3, 6-4.
Jennifer Mitchell represented the #6 seed and helped the Hawks to pick up their first victory of the season with a straight sets win of 6-1, 6-1.
The Hawks will travel to St. Augustine's in their next match up on March 7th. Match time is set for 1:00pm.
