Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO – The baseball team took two games from St. Andrews College this afternoon, marking their sixth consecutive win. Chowan won with final game scores of 12-4 and 4-2 to improve to 15-10 on the year.
The Hawks scored a combined nine runs in the second and third innings to take a 9-2 lead over the Knights. Chowan exploded for six runs in their second at-bat highlighted by two-run singles by John Kellett and Jake Badinelli. The went on to roll to a 12-4 win with freshman Will Medlin going six innings for the win on the mound. Medlin gave up five hits and four runs, only one of which was earned, while striking out three batters. Adam Capps collected four hits in four at-bats with three RBI while Kellett ended the first game 3-4 with two runs and two RBI. Both Justin Bagbey and Matt Price were 2-2 in the win.
Mike Taylor got the Hawks on the board in their first at-bat with a three run homerun to leftfield. The Hawks scored four runs in that at-bat, enough to win the game with a final score of 4-2. Ryan Bradshaw threw a complete game to pick up his third win of the season. Bradshaw gave up just two hits in the game while striking out three batters.
Chowan improves to 15-10 on the year. They will travel to St. Paul's College in their next outing on March 31. They will return to Hawkins Field on Sunday, April 5th for a 1:00pm doubleheader.
