Box Score MURFREESBORO - The Hawks collected 15 hits en route to a 10-5 win over Davis and Elkins College this afternoon. With today's win the Hawks complete the sweep in the three-game series between the two teams. Chowan improves to 3-2 overall after the win while the Senators fall to 0-3.
The Senators had a hard time getting their bats on the ball as senior starter Bryan Hill was solid in his second start of the season. Hill scattered four hits and struck out five over seven innings for his first win of 2009. Hill held the Senators scoreless until the 6th inning when they scored two runs on an error with two outs. Tyler Chelenza and Will Medlin pitched the last two innings. Chelenza gave up three earned runs while Medlin retired the side in the 9th inning.
Jordan Whitlatch led the Hawks with three hits in four at-bats. The sophomore also scored two runs and had an RBI in the win. Matt Crane, Robert Weaver, Adam Capps, and John Kellett each tallied two hits on the day. Justin Bagbey and Mike Taylor had two runs batted in.
The Hawks, now 3-2 on the year, will host Ohio Valley University next weekend in a three-game series. Saturday's match up will be a doubleheader and Sunday will be a single, nine inning game. Both playing dates are set to start at 12:00pm.
