MURFREESBORO- The women's tennis team dropped their home season opener to Barton College this afternoon, falling with a final match score of 9-0. Chowan falls to 0-3 after today's loss.

Kashae Beverly anchored the #1 seed where she fell in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, (10-4). Amanda Spaulding and Tara Lunney were #2 and #3, respectively. Spaudling went down to Jessica Galasso, 6-0, 6-0. Lunney lose to Summer Chase in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Melinda Williams played as the #4 seed, but fell to Kristen Packer, 6-0, 6-0. Brittany Johnson and Jennifer Mitchell rounded off the seeds playing #5 and #6. Johnson lose 6-1, 6-1 to Ahdai Newsome. Mitchell was defeated by Blair Burke, 6-0, 6-0.

The women's tennis team will host North Carolina Wesleyan College on March 3rd at 2:00pm.
