Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The softball team split doubleheader action today with St. Andrews College losing the first game 7-3 but bouncing back to take the second game 7-6. Today's doubleheader split moves the Hawks to 8-4 on the season while St. Andrews evens their record at 4-4.
Chowan was held to just two hits in the first game as SPC's Sarah Applegarth tossed a complete game for the win. Mindy Byrd and Tricia Gorman were both 1-3 at the plate in the loss. Allie Kolezynski picked up the loss on the mound after giving up seven hits and five runs.
With the game knotted at 6-6, Kolezynski came back to help propel her team to a 7-6 win in the nightcap. She came in for relief of starter Shellie Wimpey and held the Knights to one hit. The Hawks picked up the lead while she was on the mound for her 4th win of the season.
Chowan tallied eight hits in the win with Kolezynski going 3-3 with three runs batted in. Brooke Owen was 3-4 at the palte with two RBI and two runs scored.
The Hawks will host Sweetbriar College tomorrow at 1:30pm in a doubleheader.
