SUMTER, SC - The women's basketball team closed out their 2008-09 road season tonight with a 63-54 win over Morris College. With tonight's win at Morris the Hawks complete the home and away sweep as they beat Morris at the Helms Center on January 15th of this year.
Chowan shot 41% from the floor, connecting on 23-56 from the perimeter while also winning the battle of the boards 40 to 38. Chowan garnered nearly half of their points total off the bench as Hawks' subs scored 29 total points. They also collected 21 points of off Morris turnovers.
Najah Harris led Chowan with 13 points in the win. Harris also grabbed eight rebounds and had three blocks. Brittany Nicholson and Maddie Cummings each had 11 points while AJ O'Banion chipped in eight points and four rebounds. Freshman Nichelle Bethea had seven boards to help Chowan win the battle under the boards tonight.
After closing out their travel season tonight the Hawks will finish out the season with three home games. The first of the three games will be this Saturday as they host the University of the District of Columbia. Tip off is set for 2:00pm. The Hawks improve to 8-15 on the year after tonight's win.
