Box Scores vs. Apprentice

MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team hit the double-digit win mark tonight after defeating the Apprentice School 58-55. Chowan, now 10-15 overall, held the Builders off in the final minutes of the game to take the win. Ten different Chowan players scored baskets in the win.

After trailing 23-21 at the half, the Brittany Nicholson drilled a three pointer just under the 17:00 mark of the second half to put the Hawks on top 24-23. Alicia McMorris hit a three pointer on the Hawks next possession to take a 27-23 lead, a lead in which they would not give up for the remainder of the game. The Builders had several late comeback attempts but fell short in the game.

Chowan shot 33% (20-60) from the floor and forced 18 Builder turnovers. They cashed in on 20 points off of those turnovers while winning the battle of the boards with 43 total rebounds. Nicholson paced Chowan offensively with 11 points and was 4-5 from the floor while AJ O'Banion came off the bench to net 10 points and grab six rebounds. Najah Harris had nine points, four assists, four steals, and six rebounds in the win.

The Builders were led by Rahshann Lewter who had a game-high 20 points while Tamara Davis chipped in 15 points. The Builders move to 13-10 on the year after tonight's game.

Chowan will take off from competition until February 21st when they host Columbia Union College. Tip off is set for 7:00pm in the Helms Center.
