Box Scores vs. Allen
MURFREESBORO - The Hawks cruised to an easy win over Allen University this evening in court action with a final score of 77-55. Chowan drained 48% (29-61) from the floor and saw eleven different players score points in the win.
The Hawks bounced back with tonight's win after suffering a 74-54 loss at Fayetteville State University on Monday night. The Hawks shot just 32% form the floor against the Broncos but came out tonight to hit 7-18 from three point land and 48% of their total shots taken from the floor. Chowan easily dominated the game from the opening tip and rolled to their seventh win of the season.
The Hawks grabbed a season-high 20 offensive rebounds and a total of 41 rebounds to win the battle under the boards. Allen came away with 30 rebounds in the game and shot 40% (21-52) from the perimeter.
Maddie Cummings notched her second consecutive double-figure outing with 15 points. The freshman hit 3-6 from beyond the three point arch and was 5-13 on the night. Joining Cummings in double figures was point guard Najah Harris who came away with 14 points in 28 minutes played. Demicka McMahan tallied nine points off the bench while Patricia Price had seven points and five assists. Acquanette Simmons had seven points and pulled down seven rebounds and Taylor Hughes had four blocks and eight rebounds.
For Allen, Brittney Jones had a game-high 18 points while LeRonna Drayton chipped in 12 points. The Hawks will travel to Morris College on Monday, February 2nd for their final road trip of the season. They round out the year with a three-game home stand with the University of the District of Columbia coming to the Helms Center to start the stand on February 7th. Tip off is set for 2:00pm.
