Hawks Suffer Loss to Builders on the Road

Box Scores vs. Apprentice

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The women's basketball team suffered their 14th loss of the season after losing 55-41 to the Apprentice School tonight. The Hawks suffered a 23% (15-64) shooting performance while also turning the ball over 27 times in the game.

It was a low scoring game for both teams in the first half but it was the Builders that took a narrow 29-22 lead into the halftime break. The Hawks hit 8-32 from the floor in the first half and just 2-10 from beyond the three point arch. Their second half outing proved to be just as frustrating for Chowan as they were outscored 26-19 and hit just 22% of their total shots taken.

Acquanette Simmons and Demicka McMahan paced the Hawks offensively with seven points each. Brittany Nicholson chipped in six points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss.

The Hawks fall to 5-14 on the year while the Builders improve to 8-9 overall. Chowan will travel to Allen on Saturday for a 2:00pm tip off and they follow that game up with the road trip to CIAA member, Fayetteville State, on Monday, January 26th. They will return to the Helms Center on January 26th for a 5:00pm match up with Allen University.
