Hawks Roll to Win over Morris College at Home

MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team rolled to a 74-68 win over Morris College this evening in court action, moving them to 5-12 on the season. The Hawks had four players score in double-figures in the win and led by freshman Ransheda Jennings, whose high school jersey number was retired just one night ago.

The Hawks took a narrow 38-30 lead into halftime but held on to that lead in the second half to take their 5th win of the season. Jennings, who played at Kings Fork High School in Suffolk, Virginia, became the first girls basketball player from Kings Fork to have her jersey retired. After the ceremony last night Jennings posted a team-high 14 points. She also had four steals and three assists. Joining her in double figures were Najah Harris and Taylor Hughes who each dropped 11 points. Harris also had five boards, five assists, and three steals. Acquanette Simmons chipped in 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in the game.

The Hawks shot 39% from the floor and forced 25 Morris College turnovers. The Hawks improve to 5-12 on the year and will travel to North Greenville College on Saturday in their next outing.
