Mount Olive Edges Hawks at Home

MURFREESBORO - The men's soccer team lost a hard fought match against Mount Olive College this afternooon, falling 2-1. Today's loss drops the team to 0-3 on the season. 

Chowan took a 1-0 lead into the half when in the 23rd minute of play when Travis Albea found the back of the net on a Ysidro Lopez corner kick. The Hawks defense went to work keeping the #6 regionally ranked team out of the net for the remainder of the half.

Mount Olive continued to pressure the Hawks in the second half and in the 55th minute they tied the match at 1-1 on a Matt Wallin goal. MOC's Sean Keener took a deflected ball from the top of the box to score the go-ahead and eventual winning goal over the Hawks in the 77th minute.

For Chowan Josh Cenci started in goal, getting 15 saves and allowing both MOC scores. The Trojans out shot the Hawks 29-11 in the match.

The Hawks will travel to Lees McRae this Saturday for a 7:00pm and follow that up with a 1:00pm match at Mars Hill on Sunday.
