BUENA VISTA, VA - Meredith McCarthy's goal in the 58th minute helped lift the Hawks over Southern Virginia University 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. McCarthy had five shots on the day to include her game-winning goal.

Chowan improves to 3-3 after the win. Keeper Kristy Brown gained her second shut out of the season after playing 90 minutes in goal and getting nine saves. The Hawks out shot the Knights 21 to 16 in the match.

Chowan will host Catawba College on Wednesday in a double header with the men's team. Match time is at 3:00pm.
