NEWPORT NEWS - The Hawks pounded out 15 hits on their way to beating Newport News Apprentice School this evening 15-10. Tonight's win moves the Hawks to 29-17 on the season, setting a new mark for wins in a season for the Chowan University baseball program.

The Hawks got up early and had a 9-2 lead after four innings. The Builders mounted a comeback late in the game and cut the Hawks lead to 12-9 through seven innings but the Hawks scored three runs in the 9th to put the game away.

Mark Peterson threw 5.0 innings for the win on the mound. Peterson gave up ten hits and five runs for his 2nd win of the season. Brandon Hamlett got his second consecutive save after tossing the last two innings, shutting out the Builders. The save marks Hamlett's fourth of the season.

Offensively Justin Hollingsworth, Jordan Whitlatch, and Billy Walling each had three hits in the game while Zack Beasley was 2-4 with four RBI and three runs scored.

The Hawks will host their final regular season game tomorrow as the Builders will travel to Hawkins Field in a make up game. First pitch is slated for 3:00pm in the single, nine inning game.
