Box Score GREENVILLE, SC - The baseball team handed North Greenville a 7-2 loss this afternoon after falling to the Crusaders 3-2 yesterday. The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader today but rain delays forced the teams to play just one, nine inning game.
Chowan, now 24-15 on the season, tallied 12 hits as a team and held NGU to eight hits on the day. Chris Nelson picked up the win on the mound after throwing seven innings, giving up two runs, six hits, and striking out six batters. Anthony O'Brien came in to throw the final two innings and gave up two hits and struck out two batters.
David Hughes was 3-4 PJ Sadler, Joey Ryder, and Brandon Hamlett each notched two hits. With the game knotted at 2-2, the Hawks busted the tie with a four-run sixth inning. They added another score in the 7th inning to get on top 7-2 and take the win.
The Hawks return home on April 22nd when they host the Apprentice School at 2:00pm in a single game.
