Box Score AIKEN, SC- The Chowan University baseball team dropped their game today to the 11th ranked team in the nation, USC- Aiken, 5-2.
Chowan battled the Pacers for 3.5 scoreless innings until the Pacers broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third. The Pacers were then able to score 1 run in the next 4 innings, the Hawks weren't able to get onto the scoreboard until the 8th inning. USC-Aiken's lead was just too much for the Hawks to overcome as they lost 5-2.
Matt Crane and Billy Walling paced the Hawks, they each had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Mark Peterson pitched 7 stellar innings for the Hawks giving up just 8 hits and 4 runs.
The Hawks drop to 23-14 on the season after tonight's loss. The Hawks continue their road trip tomorrow afternoon as they travel to North Greenville University for a single game tomorrow afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
