Box Score AIKEN, SC - The baseball team dropped a 13-3 decision to #11 USC-Aiken on Wednesday night, moving them to 23-13 on the year. Aiken scored nine runs in the seventh and eighth innings to help lift them past the visiting Hawks.
USCA tallied 16 hits while holding the visiting Hawks to eight on the night. Brian Hill started the game on the mound, tossing six innings and giving up four runs, three of which were earned. The Hawks threw four pitchers in relief of Hill but Hill picked up the loss and now sits at 3-2 on the season.
The Hawks got on the board first in the game after David Hughes walked and Zack Beasley singled him home. Hill shut out Aiken's offense until fifth inning when they plated two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Hawks scored two more runs to take the lead back in the top of the 6th inning. Beasley doubled and PJ Sadler scored him with a triple in the next at-bat. Sadler scored on a fielder's choice by Billy Walling to give Chowan a 3-2 lead. Aiken then exploded for eleven runs over their next three at-bats to take the game with the final score of 13-3.
Beasley ended the game 2-4 with one RBI while Walling was 2-4 with an RBI. The Hawks will play USCA on Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm.
