SALISBURY, NC - The softball team dropped a doubleheader at Catawba College this afternoon moving them to 21-29 on the season. The Hawks lost game one 9-1 and game two 11-1. Catawba improves to 24-23 after today's doubleheader.
The Hawks were held to two hits in game one. Their lone score came in the top of the 4th inning when Melissa Woodrum scored on a wild pitch. She doubled to get on base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Woodrum and Mindy Byrd collected one hit each in the loss. Krystle Thomas pitched in the loss, tossing four innings, walking five batters, and giving up nine runs (four earned).
In the 11-1 game two loss, Chowan tallied six hits. Woodrum doubled in CU's Jenna Lassiter who reached base on a single two batters previous for the team's only run of the game. Lassiter ended the game with two hits while Woodrum was 1-2 with an RBI and a double.
Chowan will travel to Mount Olive tomorrow for a doubleheader.
