Box Scores vs. St. Augustine's

MURFREESBORO - The softball team evened their overall record at 8-8 after a doubleheader sweep of St. Augustine's College this afternoon. Chowan won game one 11-0 and followed that up with a 23-0 nightcap win.

The Hawks pounded out ten hits in the first game with Tricia Gorman going 3-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Krystle Thomas and Jenna Lassiter had two hits each in the while Megan Bass was 1-1 with two RBI. Shellie Wimpey pitched a no-hit, shut out and was one walk away from a perfect game. Wimpey also struck out six Falcon batters in the win.

The Hawks took the nightcap 23-0 on seven hits and seven Falcon errors. They scored 19 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Thomas took the mound in game two where she picked up the win after throwing five innings, giving up two hits and striking out six batters. Brooke Owen had two hits and three RBI to go with three runs scored. Melissa Woodrum had two RBI and three runs scored in the win.

The Hawks will begin their spring break road trip this weekend as they travel to the Frances Marion College Tournament. They will follow that up with the SCAD Smash Hit Tournament in Savannah, GA.
