Chowan Wins Fourth Straight

EMPORIA, VA - The softball team won it's fourth straight game today with a doubleheader sweep of St.Pauls College on the road. Chowan won game one 14-1 and game two with the identical score. Today's win improves the Hawks to 14-22 on the season.

Mindy Byrd helped to spark the Hawks offensively in the first game after going 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI on two doubles. Melissa Woodrum was 2-3 with a triple and a double and three RBI in the win. Shellie Wimpey won the game on the mound after throwing five innings, giving up three hits, one run,and striking out five batters.

Tricia Gorman had a triple and her fifth homerun of the season in the nightcap. Gorman drove in four runs and score three after going 2-3 at the plate. Krystle Thomas picked up the win for the Hawks on the mound after pitching five innings. Thomas gave up one unearned run and struck out eight Tiger batters.

The Hawks will travel to Virginia State on Friday, March 28th in their next outing.
