SAVANNAH - The softball team wrapped up play at the 2008 SCAD Smash Hit Tournament this afternoon after playing West Chester University two times. Chowan fell with final scores of 4-2 and 8-6 to drop them to 9-20 on the season.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning, the Hawks' Mindy Byrd drove in two runs to knot the game at 2-2. WCU scored two runs in the top of the 7th to get back on top 4-2 and would eventually win the game with that same score. Byrd finished the game 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Shellie Wimpey pitched the loss on the mound after giving up seven hits, four runs, and striking out two batters.

The Hawks fell in their second game 8-6 to wrap up this week's play. They will return home to host Bloomfield College on Sunday at 11:00a.m.
