SAVANNAH, GA - The softball team dropped two games at the SCAD Smash Hit Tournament this afternoon. They lost to Kutztown 8-3 and Armstrong Atlantic State University 19-2. Today's losses drop the Hawks to 9-15 on the season.
Chowan faced off against Kutztown to open the day, falling 8-3. The Hawks tallied seven hits as a team with Jenna Lassiter and Mindy Byrd getting two hits each. Tricia Gorman was 1-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Krystle Thomas pitched the loss, throwing six innings, giving up 10 hits, eight runs, and striking out two batters.
The Hawks dropped a 19-2 decision to AASU in their second game of the day and were held to six hits as a team. Brooke Owen paced the team after going 2-3 at the plate with two RBI. Shellie Wimpey picked up the loss after throwing three innings, striking out two batters, and giving up eleven hits.
Chowan has four games remaining at the tournament and will play Kutztown and West Chester tomorrow.
