Baseball Takes Two at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The baseball team improved their overall record to 13-6 after beating Emmanuel College in a doubleheader this afternoon. Chowan won game one 9-0 and game two 11-1.

Freshman Chris Nelson moved to 4-1 on the mound after throwing a three-hit, shut out in game one. Nelson threw 5.0 innings, striking out seven Lion batters and scattering three hits. Mark Peterson pitched the last two innings of the game, also giving up three hits. Jordan Whitlatch tallied three hits while Billy Walling had two hits and two RBI in the win.

In game two BJ Byerly pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win while Brandon Hamlett pitched the final 1 2/3 innings. Byerly gave up four hits and one run while striking out two batters. PJ Sadler had a triple and a homerun while Nate Mitchell had two doubles and two RBI.

The Hawks will travel to Southern Wesleyan in Central, South Carolina tomorrow for a doubleheader. They will host Millersville University in a three-game series this weekend.
