FLORENCE, SC - The softball team split day two play at the Francis Marion University Invitational on Sunday. They opened the day with an 8-2 loss to Francis Marion but bounced back to beat Clarion University 8-0 in five innings.
In the 8-2 loss to FMU, the Hawks were paced by Kaytee McLaughlin who was 1-3 and responsible for both runs knocked in. Shellie Wimpey picked up the loss on the mound after throwing six innings.
Chowan bounced back to beat Clarion 8-0 in five innings behind the pitching of Krystle Thomas and the hitting of Tricia Gorman and Lauryn Myer. Myer was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with two runs knocked in. Gorman grabbed her first homerun of the year and was 2-3 with two runs batted in.
