Box Score 2 Box Scores vs. UNC-Pembroke
PEMBROKE - The Hawks saw their six game win streak come to a close today after dropping a doubleheader to UNC-Pembroke. Chowan lost the first game 6-2 and nightcap 3-2. Today's losses moves the Hawks to 11-5.
Chowan committed six errors and were held to seven hits in the first loss of the doubleheader. Chris Nelson (3-1) pitched in the loss, giving up six hits, two earned runs, and striking out four batters in five innings of work. Brandon Kelly and John Morris pitched in relief of Nelson. PJ Sadler was 3-5 while Joey Ryder was 2-4 in the loss.
Chowan held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning in the nightcap but UNC-Pembroke scored two runs to take the 4-3. The Hawks were held to six hits in the game with Ryder getting the only multiple hit game. Ryder was 2-3 at the plate. Brian Hill picked up the loss after entering the game at 3-1 overall. Hill threw 6.2 innings giving up four earned runs and striking out three batters.
Chowan and the Braves will wrap up the series tomorrow at 1:00p.m.
