NEWPORT NEWS, VA - With his team trailing by one and :50 to play in the game, senior Montino Williams made good on two free throws to help lift the Hawks over Newport News Apprentice School 70-69.
The game featured eight lead changes and five ties before Chris Kenon hit a jumper with just over a minute to play in the game to get ahead of the Builders 68-67. The Builders scored on their next possession to take the lead back 69-68. Williams was fouled on the Hawks ensuing possession, where he nailed the free throws to eventually win the game.
Tonight's win moves the Hawks to 10-12 on the year. Kenon finished the game with 14 points and seven assists while Raul Tutelea had seven points and 11 boards. Jaleel Nelson had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the win.
The Hawks will travel to Southern Virginia on Saturday in their next match up.
